Six-year-old Jordyn Geanuracos knelt right up front Friday, rapt as Mayor Mark Boughton read Dr. Seuss’ “Hop on Pop” at New England Country Day School until the cue came for the mayor’s “assistant.”
“Let’s see. Maybe we can get some help,” Boughton said.
Then in walked Thomas Geanuracos, still dressed in his Air National Guard fatigues, fresh from a six-month deployment to Iraq, surprising Jordyn and her 3-year-old brother Christian.
“Daddy! Daddy!” Jordyn and Christian shouted as they ran into their father’s arms.
“Jordyn’s dad’s a hero,” one classmate repeated over and over as the reunited family embraced to the applause of their classmates.
